WE ARE FAMILY
Welcome to our family's story!
I'm Larry, founder and CEO of tru- Retro Stripes.
Join me on this journey as we celebrate the inspirational story of my Father, Tom Clark, the original Ford enthusiast.

This is his actual badge!
Found it in the top drawer… It reads ‘Employe’!
-
The date on his badge says six months AFTER my birthday!
My Father, Tom Clark, worked at Philco Ford for most of his adult working life. He charged through the ranks - A very smart, articulate perfectionist. He had an above average intellect (think Calculus 4!).
PHILCO FORD HQ
DIVISION OF FOMOCO FORD ROAD NEWPORT BEACH, CA
He was an Aeronutronic Engineer, designing tanks and missiles.
Including...
SERGEANT YORK
A two story tank that he worked on. I had a poster of it up in the garage for years. Not sure that it ever saw battle…
AIM-9 SIDEWINDER MISSLE
(and probably still do…)
Philco Ford also made TV sets and radios. All kinds of items. Serious American nostalgia from that company.
My Dad told me he always wanted a Bronco (he’d been watching it from its inception). But because of kids (me), he ended up with other family friendly options.
D’oh!
FORD FAMILY
During the ‘70’s we leased many different models! We had these window vans for 3-4 years - to pull our boat with - think it had ten bench seats in it…seated like forty people…
BOBCAT
That, eGads, is a ‘80 Mercury Bobcat! In brown/orange no doubt! For those that don’t know, it’s a glorified Pinto under Mercury name!
COUNTRY SQUIRE WAGON
We had these before the window vans! Checkout that color, paneling, and third row seat! Y’all know it!
It was all part of the ‘A-Plan’ lease/buy program with FoMoCo. We leased for one year, then leased another for a year. So grateful!
The ‘A-Plan’ Kids
My brother, Robert, my sister Kristi, and myself, donning the ‘tru Retro’ clothing from the era!
TOM CLARK LOVED THE SOUTHWEST
My father had a desert place in Searchlight, NV, out the front porch had the most beautiful Western sunsets.
WHERE ARE WE NOW?
After many years, the Clark family has grown - Memories, trips, traditions, family members (including legendary cars we all owned).
IN LOVING MEMORY
As we grow, we will always celebrate the memory and life of our beloved father, grandfather, and friend, Thomas Samuel Clark.
Thank you for reading our story!
